What is Preparing Future Faculty?

Dive into a realm of professional growth and development tailored for graduate students eager to excel in post-secondary teaching and learning. From a dynamic micro-credential in (PAL) to live faculty observations, this program immerses you in evidence-based practices, and empowers you to shape the future of education. InSPIRE, in collaboration with the 海角社区 Graduate School, is pleased to invite you to participate in this campus initiative.

The Preparing Future Faculty program can be completed in as little as one academic year (9 months) at no cost to you.

If you join the program, you will have an opportunity to learn about and reflect on best principles and approaches for advancing undergraduate student learning and success.  Through completion of the following milestones, you will be awarded a certificate of completion:

  • Micro-credentialing course on promoting active learning, offered by the Association of College & University Educators (ACUE)
  • Observations of faculty instruction with targeted reflection
  • Participation in workshops and webinars offered by InSPIRE and college teaching/learning colleagues nationwide
  • Development of a teaching philosophy statement

The only requirement that must be done this fall is completion of the ACUE PAL micro-credentialing course. All other requirements can be completed at your convenience prior to graduation; these include:

  • Attendance at a total of five (5) or more teaching and learning seminars/workshops/webinars,* with reflection
  • Observation of three (2) undergraduate and/or graduate classes, with reflection
  • Participation in the teaching philosophy workshop

*Sponsored by InSPIRE or hosted by an external entity focused on college teaching and learning (schedules and opportunities will be provided).

Once you sign up, you will be added to a Blackboard shell created explicitly for the PFF program, which is where you will upload any required documents and can track your progress toward program completion This is also where you can reach out to fellow PFF members, follow discussion boards, and receive feedback from course facilitators.
