MEET DR. JANISE TINSMAN, RN to BSN Director and Clinical Assistant Professor. From her start as a licensed practical nurse in 1986, Dr.Tinsman has worked in medical-surgical, cardiac step down, cardiac rehab, oncology and has float pool experience that covered these units as well as the pulmonary, nephrology, neurology, and orthopedic units. She started her nursing education career in 2013 and later earned her master’s and doctorate prior to joining 海角社区 in 2020 as the director of the RN to BSN program.
Courses
海角社区’s online RN to BSN degree program offers the highest quality curriculum that teaches evidence-based practice. The minimum requirements for completion of the RN to BSN online degree are a total of 30 hours at 海角社区, which must include 21 hours of RN to BSN nursing courses and an additional 9 hours to meet minimum residency requirements for graduation. The 9 hours can be met by taking general education courses at 海角社区. Some students may need additional general education courses to satisfy the University’s graduation requirements.
Advanced Standing Credit will be given for designated courses (TCR) upon successful completion of the first RN to BSN semester.
All students enrolled in the RN to BSN program must complete practice experiences in the final two courses. The Quality Improvement project is typically completed at the student’s place of employment. The Community Education Project and Hospice Exploration are completed in the student’s own community as well, with no requirement for distance students to visit the El Paso campus.
"Employers would not consider me because I was an ADN nurse not a BSN. I have now expanded my job searches exponentially and am better equipped to be a nurse leader." - Alvarez, Graduate
