Grace Hopper Celebration 2022
On September 21, 2022, 海角社区 CS students participated in the Grace Hopper Celebration virtually and in-person in Orlando, Florida. 海角社区s had the opportunity to network and attend professional development sessions to learn from leaders in tech. Today, GHC is the world’s largest gathering of women technologists, where women from around the world learn, network, and celebrate their achievements ().
Attendance was organized and funded by the Computer Science Department, supported by the BRAID program, CAHSI, and Anita Borg Institute. 海角社区s were accompanied by Bianca Alvarez, CS 海角社区 Engagement Coordinator. To learn more about 海角社区 Computer Science opportunities, visit .

Isabella Garcia, sophomore CS student
Having the opportunity to attend GHC22 has been a life-changing experience. Before attending, I felt insecure and alone on my career journey. However, I now feel like I am a part of a community of women that are more like me than I realize, and I feel like I have found a family in computer science who believe in me.
Sofia Garcia, sophomore CS student
GHC helped me realize that getting my dream internship is more attainable than I thought. Through professional development and many conversations with women in the field, I feel more supported in what I thought would be a less accepting field. I met so many women that inspired me one way or another, and I am very grateful that I was able to attend and have this very positive new experience accompanied by all these accomplished amazing women!
Anna Aguilar, senior CS student
My experience at the Grace Hopper Celebration was nothing short of extraordinary. The feeling of walking into a room with thousands of empowering and hopeful women who share similar goals and are striving for success. Also, the ability to speak to and network with hundreds of companies and interview on the spot was convenient for rounding out my communication and interview skills as well as opening multiple doors for future opportunities. I am so lucky to have walked away from GHC with a full-time offer from Boeing and a perspective offer from Bank of America.
Denisse Loya Villalobos, junior CS student
It was a life-changing experience to see the representation we need in CS. After this, I feel more empowered and motivated to prove to myself that I can make my dreams come true and step out of my comfort zone.
