Graduation
Step 1: Submit Graduation application:
All College of Liberal Arts students must submit a graduation application if they are attending Commencement or not.
Complete and submit via email to lagrad@utep.edu or drop it off in LART 309:

Once application is received, the Graduation Coordinator will review your Degree evaluation. If there are any issues regarding your status, you will be notified via email. If there are no issues, you will be notified when the application has been submitted for processing to the Registration and Records office. They will post the application fee. If the application is late, there is a $15.00 late fee assessed.
Diploma Application Fee
$35 if paid by the set deadline. (There is an initial deadline set each semester.)
$50 if paid after the initial deadline through the last day of finals
After final grades are submitted, the Coordinator will begin the final audit of your records to ensure you have met the requirements for your degree. The Registration and Records Office will receive confirmation of graduates from the Coordinator in approximately six weeks. Diplomas are ordered once the has posted all degrees. After diplomas are received, they will be mailed to the address listed on the graduation application. Please make sure that there are no balance dues. If there is a balance due, the diploma will not be mailed.
If you have any outstanding financial debts with the university, you will need to clear them before a diploma or transcript can be released. To check on your balance, please contact the 海角社区 Business Services Office at 747-5116 or 747-5105.

Bachelor's Degree Checklist
Complete the University Core Curriculum (42 semester credit hours).
Complete the Liberal Arts General Education Requirements (24-27 semester credit hours-Block Electives plus Languages).
Complete the requirements of the Major, Minor and, if applicable, the second Major or Minor.
海角社区s must follow the Graduation Needs List and CAPP. Visit the Liberal Arts Dean's Office to request an official Degree Plan at 60 hours and the Needs List at 90 hours. Only the Dean's Office may officially clear a student for graduation.
If applicable to degree plan, complete free electives, as needed, to accumulate the minimum required hours for the degree, minimum hours is 120 hours, 144 for a double major.
Complete at least 39-45 hours at the advanced (3000-4000) level (depending on catalog).
Complete 24 of the last 30 hours in residence.
Maintain at least a 2.0 (C) average: in all courses in the University Core, overall GPA, Major GPA, and Minor GPA
Resolve any Incomplete Grade (I) or No Grade (N) assigned. The course instructor must submit a “Change of Grade” form with definitive grades recorded to the Records Office by the end of the semester of the student’s anticipated graduation.
Diplomas
- Degrees are conferred approximately two months following the end of each long semester (December and May) and at the end of the long summer session (August). The degree will be posted to the transcript with the commencement date for each long semester and the last day of finals for the long summer session.
- The name appears on the diploma as it appears on the official university record. Only legal names can appear on the diploma.
- The degree title will appear in the center of the diploma below the student’s name. The student’s major(s) will appear on the diploma only if it is not included in the official degree title. Institutional academic honors awarded will appear below the major(s).
- Certificates, concentrations, endorsements, minors, honors earned in the department or the University Honors Program will only appear on the student’s academic transcript and NOT on the diploma.
- Diplomas are mailed to the address provided by the student
- A graduating student who has an outstanding financial obligation with the university will not receive a diploma or transcript until such obligation is satisfied in full. To clear the financial debt, contact the 海角社区 Business Services Office at (915) 747-5116.
