Chapter 5: Occupational Safety and Health
5.1 Occupational Safety and Health
The University complies with applicable laws, rules and regulations, including the applicable provisions of the Texas Health and Safety Code. Additionally the University recognizes the Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) national standards, using OSHA provisions as a guide for the establishment and implementation of institutional policies and procedures for personnel safety protections.
5.1.1 As part of its Occupational Safety and Health responsibilities, Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) provides job safety training and monitors compliance with the applicable laws, rules regulations, policies, and manuals to ensure adequate and appropriate care is given to protect University employees in the performance of their duties.
5.1.2 Records regarding employee safety awareness training and workplace inspections are maintained by EH&S.
5.1.3 EH&S supports 海角社区 endeavors and other at risk functions of the campus through administration of a program of occupational risk assessment and health monitoring where the routine duties of employees are found to present an elevated risk for occupational illness or disease, these employees are referred to the University’s medical surveillance program.
