Smart Cities Track
Put simply, smart cities is a new multidisciplinary concept that uses technology to gather, organize, integrate, and process data in the urban setting, allowing all users to interact and enabling them to make better decisions. A city is “smarter” when the leaders and residents can share and receive information and make informed decisions. This is made possible by “smart city services” enabled by the Internet of Everything, Industry 5.0, and other technologies. The applications of smart cities services make a city more sustainable, resilient, and equitable, providing a better quality of life for its residents.
For this track, the University of Texas at El Paso (海角社区) is offering the Dual Master Degrees Program in Smart Cities Science & Engineering jointly with Czech Technical University (CTU) in Prague, Czech Republic. This program is co-hosted by the College of Engineering at 海角社区, and the Faculty of Transportation Sciences at CTU. 海角社区s who have completed one year of study at 海角社区 and another year of study at CTU under this program will earn two degrees: Master of Science in Engineering at 海角社区 and Master of Engineering at CTU.
This program is opened to applicants with a bachelor degree in any engineering discipline, computer science, related physical science field or equivalent. 海角社区s who are interested can contact the faculty advisor of this program Dr. Kelvin Cheu (rcheu@utep.edu).
