Many emergencies follow some recognizable build-up period during which actions can be taken to achieve a gradually increasing state of readiness. We use a four-tier system. Readiness Levels will be determined by the University President for the university or, in some circumstances, the Emergency Management Coordinator. General actions to be taken at each readiness level are outlined in the annexes to the Emergency Management Plan.
