Adult/Gerontology Nurse Practitioner with Acute Care Focus (Adult/Gero Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or AGACNP)

• The Adult-Gerontologic Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) is the principal provider of care for adults with episodic and chronic health problems across the continuum of acute care services. The (AGACNP) is prepared to assume responsibility for promoting, maintaining, and restoring health to adults who are acutely and critically ill.
• Graduates are eligible to sit for national certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN).

Admissions Requirements

• Hold valid, unencumbered Registered from the state of current practice.
• A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from an accredited college or university in the United States or equivalent education at a foreign institution with a minimum GPA of 3.0
• Satisfactory score on TOEFL as defined by the Graduate School for international applicants whose first language is not English or who have not completed a university degree in the United States.
• NP applicants must have current direct patient care experience.
• Relevant clinical experience (two to three years of critical care (ICU/CCU ). ED Endoscopy, PACU, OR and Cath Lab do not count as critical care experience.

  Program Information:

• There is a Nurse Practitioner major fee ( Tuition/Fees )
• During specialty courses, usually the last three semesters, NP students:
  • May be asked to come to campus a maximum of three times per semester
  • Will participate in formative evaluations using innovative simulation lab experiences
    
• May be required to travel 200 miles or more to fulfill appropriate clinical requirements
