º£½ÇÉçÇø Health and Wellness Center Updates Operating Hours

This semester, the º£½ÇÉçÇø Health and Wellness Center (SHWC) has started operating under new hours to expand early hour appointments and provide appointment access during students’ lunch hours. The SHWC will operate 7:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and 1 – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The SHWC, which is located on the first floor of Union Building East, Suite 100, aims to create a safe and supportive environment for students to prioritize their health and well-being to achieve academic success. The SHWC offers immunizations, routine lab tests, flu vaccines, general checkups, physical exams, prescription refills for existing patients, STD testing, pregnancy tests, contraceptive care, nutrition and wellness education, mental health counseling, and much more.

“The º£½ÇÉçÇø Health and Wellness Center is an integral part of student life at º£½ÇÉçÇø,” said Leticia Paez, the SHWC’s administrative director. “º£½ÇÉçÇøs who visit SHWC receive quality health care from our highly qualified and experienced healthcare professionals.”

According to the SHWC’s Fall 2023 º£½ÇÉçÇø Visit Exit Survey, 99% of students seen at the SHWC reported they received an appointment time that fit their schedule, were taken care of within 15 minutes of their appointment time and were treated by health care providers and administrative staff who were professional, respectful and courteous.

Paez emphasized that students can access SHWC’s services regardless of their financial situation.

"No student is ever denied access to an appointment, especially due to lack of financial resources at the time of illness,” she said. “Low cost, affordable fees for services can be paid throughout the semester through students’ accounts. Our motto is ‘Healthy Body, Healthy Mind, Healthy Miner!’”
