Hopper Dean Center Leadership Updates
The 海角社区 College of Education announces the retirement of Dr. Elsa Villa, who has dedicated 36 years to the university and has served as the founding director of the Hopper Dean Center of Excellence for K-12 CS Education. Dr. Villa's dedication and vision have been instrumental in shaping the center, which was established with a generous endowment gift from the Hopper Dean Family Foundation. As we express our gratitude for Dr. Villa’s outstanding service, we are excited to welcome Dr. Johannes Strobel as the Hopper Dean Center’s new Executive Director. Dr. Strobel is also the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies for the College of Education. The College looks forward to advancing K-12 computer science education discovery, knowledge, and practice and continuing the mission of the Hopper Dean Center to empower educators and students in this vital field. In recent years, the 海角社区 College of Education has established itself as a thought and practice leader in computer science education 海角社区 and practice exemplified by numerous initiatives of professional development for teachers, embedding computer science in pre-service teacher preparation and multi-million dollar competitive grants from the federal government.
